Dog Friendly Activities in Surrey

Are you looking for dog friendly days out in Surrey? Do you need some ideas for fun things to do with your dog? Spending time with your pooch will help to build your bond with them and there are many fun activities which you can do with your dog in Surrey other than going for a walk. 

Go Swimming with your Dog


Often thought to be a form of therapy for your dog, swimming can also be a fun activity to do. The suggestions below offer fun swimming sessions for your dog to enjoy. These can be great for dogs who love the water, as well as helping to build confidence for dogs who are a bit nervous of the water. 

  • Crossway Kennels – Crossway Kennels located in Betchworth, Surrey, offer fun dog swims for £30. They also have hydrotherapy and water walker sessions available.
  • Aquadoggies – This one is slightly outside Surrey but Aquadoggies nearing Reading offers fun swimming sessions for dogs which cost £30 for 1 hour.

 

Practice your Dog Agility


There are some enclosed fields in Surrey which you can rent for sole use and some of these have agility equipment in them. What better way to spend a dog friendly day out in Surrey than spending an some time running around a field and practicing your agility skills? Below are a few places where you can do so.

Silverlee Fields –  Small Hills Road, Leigh, Reigate, RH2 8RQ. From £5 for half an hour, they don’t have a full agility course but do have a couple of jumps and a tunnel.

Surrey Bark Park – Pound Farm Lane, Aldershot, GU12 6EH. From £10 per hour. Fun agility equipment, paddling pools and hay bales available for dogs to enjoy.

Dog Trouble – Birchin Inhams Farm, Heathlands Road, Wokingham, RG40 3AP. This site is just outside of Surrey however we wanted to include them as they have an exercise paddock for hire complete with professional agility equipment for just £5 for half an hour.

 

Go Boating with your Dog


There are a number of places that you can take your dog on a boat with you and enjoy the lovely Surrey Waterways. This is a great idea for a dog friendly day out in Surrey on a hot day – make sure to take a picnic along with you and lots of water. Some suggestions are below:

Go Boat – Riverside Walk, Kingston upon Thames, KT1 1QN (Not quite Surrey but very close!). Go Boat rent self driven boats which have a picnic table in the middle – so a great way for you to enjoy your lunch. Dogs’s are allowed but life jackets for them are not provided so you take them at your own risk. Prices start from £59 an hour.

Farncombe Boats – The Boat House, Catteshall Road, Godalming, GU7 1NH. Farncombe Boats offers boat hire from March to October and dogs are welcome on all of their boats. You can rent a boat for a day, or take one for longer if you prefer. They specialise in Narrowboats, but also have rowing boats, Canadian canoes and punts available for hire by the hour from £12.

JGF Passenger Boats – Cowey Sale, Walton Bridge, Surrey, KT12 1AR. JGF offers both public and private dog friendly boat trips on the River Thames. Their main public boat trip is their Shepperton Cruise which runs from March to October at weekends, bank holidays and during the school holidays. The cruise lasts for 45 minutes and an adult ticket is £9 (Nov 2019). This trip can make for a great dog friendly day out in Surrey – why not pair it with a trip to a local dog friendly pub too such as The Anglers or The Swan?

Byfleet Boat Club – 4, Old Parvis Road, Byfleet, Surrey, KT146LE. This boat club rents rowing boats and pedalos from £10 per hour between Easter and the last weekend in September. Dogs are welcome but would need to be kept under control for everyone’s safety.

 

Take your Dog to Yoga


This could be a great idea if you have a very excitable dog. Dog Yoga is thought to help dogs relax and become calmer when teaching them to express and hold different postures. Team this with a relaxing walk for a great dog friendly day out in Surrey.

CK9 Training – Nonsuch Scout Hall, Bluegates, Ewell, Surrey, KT17 2SA. CK9 Training offers workshops from £35.

Emma’s Animals – Kings lane, TW20, Egham – Classes from £50 for an hour.

 

Cycle with your dog


Cycling is a great way for you to exercise and your dog to get a workout at the same time. There are lots of places in Surrey where you can cycle completely off road and your dog can run along with you. If you do need to cross roads, you could consider towing a dog carrier with you which you can pop your dog into when needed. This is also great for when you wish to go further and are worried that your pooch won’t be able to run so far. Some suggestions for bike hire and places to cycle can be found below.

Southwater Cycles – Bonnington Farm, Drungewick Lane, Loxwood, Billingshurst, West Sussex, RH14 0RS – the cycle hire is just out of Surrey but the off road cycle routes cover both Surrey and Sussex. Southwater Cycles offers both bikes for hire from £15 and dog trailers from £10. They have a map of a recommended route on their website which uses mostly off road routes on the Downs Link and the Wey South Path.

Alice Holt Forest – Bucks Horn Oak, Farnham GU10 4LS – Bikes availble to hire from £10. This forest has a number of off road trails which you can cycle around, as well as many other activities to get involved in when you have had enough of the saddle – check out the play trail, Gruffalo sculptures or Cafe.
