Doggy Meet Up’s

If you are the proud owner of a new puppy, we are sure you want the very best for your little bundle of fur. One of the important dog life skills that they will need to learn is how to behave around other dogs. The Kennel Club and The Dog’s Trust have teamed together to create a Puppy Socialisation Plan which you might find useful to follow, and by doing so it can help prevent your dog developing behavioural issues later in life.

Finding other puppies and dogs to play with is an important part of the socialisation plan, so we have listed some of the places in Surrey which have free Puppy Meet-ups or dog socialisation groups. Some dog trainers may also offer paid classes for young puppies to join and meet others, however we haven’t listed these here. With all of the puppy or dog meet ups, we recommend that you make sure it is right for your puppy and is helping to build its confidence and manners for later in life, as not all groups will be right for your dog.

Facebark

Dogs playing at Surrey Facebark Dog Meet Up GroupAddress: Located on the Old Bowls Green off Lesbourne Road in Reigate. To find it, head to Busy Bees Nursery (RH2 7JP). There is some street parking around here although the nursery is closed so it might be possible to park in their car park. Take the path which runs directly behind the nursery and the bowls green can be found towards the end of the path just down the hill. The organisers clear the area of litter and glass before the dogs arrive (if you are early i’m sure they would welcome any help), so you should be able to easily spot the area to head for.

Price: Free

The dog meet up group usually takes place on a Saturday morning between 9.30am and 11am but may be moved to Sunday if the weather is poor. The dog group is really friendly and welcoming to newcomers and will help you to settle your dog into the group if they are a bit nervous at first – there can be over 40 dogs which attend!

More information can be found on their Facebook page here.
